Gregg Dixon - Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Board
Gregg connects customers, investors, teammates, and the world with Voltus value, ensuring that the vision for the company, and its culture, is meeting their expectations. Gregg is a world-renowned expert in commercial and industrial energy management and has pioneered many of today's innovations that unlock the economic and environmental benefits of "intelligent energy."
Prior to co-founding Voltus, Gregg was the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales and a founding executive at EnerNOC, a leading provider of demand response, energy procurement, and energy intelligence software, where he led all facets of marketing, sales, product, and professional services. Gregg developed and executed EnerNOC's award winning go-to-market strategy that took EnerNOC from $0 to nearly $500 million in revenue over the course of 10 years. Among his proudest achievements, he created more than 350 jobs, brought to market more than 10,000 MW's of demand response around the world, delivered more than $1 billion in cash savings to customers, opened more than two dozen markets for the very first time to demand side resources, architected the company's product strategy, and, before he left, led EnerNOC's Supreme Court of the United States case on FERC Order 745, which was decided in favor of EnerNOC, ensuring that the demand response industry can continue to grow.
Prior to joining EnerNOC, Gregg was Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Hess Microgen, the leading provider of commercial on-site co-generation systems and services in the United States, where he pioneered efforts to bring more than 100 co-generation systems to leading grocery, hospitality, commercial property, and manufacturing customers. Gregg was also a Partner at Mercer Management Consulting, where he advised Fortune 1000 companies on customer and product strategy, economic analysis, and new business development.
Gregg has been the keynote and contributing speaker at hundreds of energy conferences, and his work in the industry has been cited broadly in the media, including The Wall St. Journal, The Economist, USA Today, Wired Magazine, and The Boston Globe, among others. Gregg graduated from Boston College with bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Information Systems and he is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Demand Side Management Professional, and Certified Sustainable Development Professional with the Association of Energy Engineers with whom he was also recognized as a "Lifetime Legend in Energy." Gregg was also voted one of Boston's "40 Under 40" by Boston Business Journal as recognition for having established himself as a leader to be watched in the field of technology and energy.
Matthew Plante - President, Board Member
Matt co-founded Voltus to pursue his passion for a cleaner energy future. As President of Voltus, Matt is responsible for Voltus’s new market entry and for developing customer solutions that marry leading technology, energy markets knowledge, and straightforward and compelling value propositions.
Prior to founding Voltus, Matt was the CEO of EcoFactor, a connected home software developer and operator of the award winning, 70 MW residential demand response program with Nevada Energy. Prior to that, Matt held VP of Sales roles at Bidgely and at EnerNOC. At EnerNOC, Matt secured EnerNOC’s first utility contract and spearheaded its initial international efforts, which resulted in the acquisition of two Australian demand response companies and in EnerNOC’s largest non-US portfolio. He also built from scratch EnerNOC’s two largest US markets, PJM and TVA, growing them from 0 to 2,000+ MWs and 0 to 500+ MWs, respectively. Matt led worldwide sales for EnerNOC’s 200-person commercial and industrial sales team, 15-person utility solutions team, and 40-person energy intelligence software team.
Matt graduated from Connecticut College with bachelor's degrees in Economics and Government and earned his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. When he’s out of the office, Matt and his wife and daughter can often be found hiking around the Bay Area.
Veery Maxwell - Board Member, Director of Energy Innovation
Veery Maxwell is the Director for Energy Innovation, where she helps clients achieve their goals in climate and energy philanthropy. Veery earned a J.D. degree with honors from UC Hastings School of Law where she focused on environmental issues.
She was Managing Editor of West-Northwest, the Hastings environmental law and policy journal, and published a paper entitled, “Wind Energy Development: Can Wind Power Overcome Substantial Hurdles to Reach the Grid?”
Veery received a B.A., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University with a double major in finance and international business. She spent her junior year at the London School of Economics. While she attended Georgetown and Hastings, Veery worked for The Nature Conservancy, ClimateWorks Foundation, and the environmental law division of Union Pacific.
Tim Woodward - Board Member, Managing Director of Prelude Ventures
Tim joined Prelude Ventures in 2013 as a Managing Director with 25 years of venture capital investing experience. Having grown up in Silicon Valley, Tim has a long history of working with talented entrepreneurs who want to change the world. Prior to Prelude Ventures, Tim was a Managing Director for 15 years with Nth Power where he led investments in companies involved in renewable energy, demand response, advanced materials and outsourced utility customer management. He was the lead investment partner for that firm’s successful investments in Evergreen Solar (ESLR), Comverge (COMV) and Proton Energy Systems (DESC).
Before joining Nth Power, Tim spent eight years managing venture capital investments for Liberty Environmental Partners, a firm that focused on energy, industrial and environmental technologies. During that time, he served as full-time Chairman of Monitoring Technology Corporation, a company that provides on-line condition monitoring of power and industrial equipment.
Prior to entering the venture capital business, Tim was involved in the launch of First Source, a company providing industrial solvent recycling services. He also spent more than six years in international marketing for an industrial filtration equipment manufacturer.
Tim currently serves on the board of directors for Allotrope, Encycle, EnergySavvy, MineSense and Powerhive, and he has oversight for Prelude Ventures' investments in QuantumScape.
