Dispatch Operations Lead (Part-Time; Remote; Weekends)

The Role

The Dispatch Operations Lead’s primary responsibility will be to successfully prepare for and execute all activities associated with managing demand response dispatches. Demand response dispatches are business and time critical. The Dispatch Operations Lead will become an expert in executing dispatches across multiple grid operator and utility programs.

We are a 24/7 team, and we are looking for part-time leads who can work dedicated weekend shifts. There are opportunities to pick up weekday shifts and join weekday team meetings, but significant weekday work is not required. The role is shift-based and your availability and reliability are a critical element to the success of the role; however, this role is remote, which means: no commute!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a state of readiness to receive dispatches from grid operators and utilities
  • Maximize customer participation in DR through a dispatch management process that makes customer participation simple and successful
  • Lead seamless internal communication during dispatches, leveraging other internal team members in support of the shared goal for flawless dispatches
  • Identify opportunities to prepare and send customer readiness communications, such as dispatch forecast alerts and seasonal communications, coordinating with account managers and our Customer Success team
  • Capture lessons learned following a dispatch; track and follow through on any customer inquiries or issues

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Manage the collection of settlement data for customers
  • Ensure our customer data is accurate, which includes contact information, curtailment plans, and special site instructions
  • Ad hoc analysis projects
  • Monitor for and ensure market compliance in offer-based programs

The spring and summer seasons are focused on dispatch readiness and performance. Additional demand response dispatches occur throughout the year, but your collateral duties will be predominantly conducted in the fall and winter.

We are a 24/7 team, and we are looking for a manager who can provide leadership to weekend days. This could be in combination with a weekday work schedule, and the role could be Part Time or Full Time hours (depending on the candidate's preference and qualifications). The role is shift-based and your availability and reliability are a critical element to the success of the role; however, this role is remote, which means: no commute!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure 24/7 readiness to receive dispatches from grid operators and utilities, including secondary plans in place to handle dispatches of programs during off hours
  • Execute all operational procedures following processes and checklists diligently
  • Identify areas to improve process to maximize a lean dispatch ops team
  • Implement processes and/or tools to drive customer readiness and ultimately customer performance
  • Maximize customer participation in dispatches using process that makes customer participation simple and successful
  • Leverage and train internal resources to support customer inbound/outbound phone calls as appropriate
  • Maintain seamless internal communication when dispatches occur
  • Capture lessons learned following a dispatch; track and follow through on any customer inquiries or issues
  • Manage process documentation and communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Execute and improve ad hoc communications to customers related to dispatches
  • Work closely with the Customer Success team to ensure customer readiness and ensure customers are well informed and prepared

When not managing dispatches, you will focus on working with the Customer Success team to ensure customer readiness; support data operations; work closely with the Market Ops team to develop and implement process improvement and establish a strong foundation for ensuring we maximize our market participation.

We are looking for candidates who can work 8-hour weekday shifts between 6pm ET - 4am ET.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a state of readiness to receive dispatches from grid operators and utilities
  • Become an expert in executing dispatches across grid operator and utility programs in a designated region
  • Maximize customer participation in events through a dispatch management process that makes customer participation simple and successful
  • Support the optimization of customer site offers in real time and day-ahead markets

Dispatch Operations Co-op (Spring 2022, remote)

The Dispatch Operations Co-op is eager to hone their skills with driving business operations during dispatch events through learning and applying the dispatch team toolkit. This Co-op will play a central role in all things related to dispatch readiness, which includes customer onboarding, program management, and dispatch systems.

In this role, you will become knowledgeable about grid operators and utilities in North America, you will interact regularly with large industrial and commercial energy users, and you will build a foundation of operations experience across diverse systems and processes. Primary Responsibilities – support the success of dispatch events:

  • Dispatch Operations - We need a team player who can provide quick analysis and coaching to inbound and outbound calls during a dispatch.
  • Energy Education - Become an expert on demand response programs across North America, and leverage this knowledge to support customers and internal teams during dispatches
  • Focused Projects - We will structure projects based on your background, education and interests. We have numerous projects related to process, strategy, and technology. You will have the opportunity to work with more senior members of the team on these projects.

Secondary Responsibilities – when there are no dispatches, prepare customers to be successful in future dispatches:

  • Reporting - Build reports and assist with taking action on the findings of these reports. Our reporting tools include Python, Redash, SQL, Salesforce, and Google Sheets, and we are looking for candidates with experience or interest in learning at least one of these tools.
  • Customer Success - Create and process post-dispatch cases. Assist in continuously improving dispatch process and customer readiness.
  • Account Management - Support customer onboarding and customer management through settlement data acquisition
  • Markets - Support monitoring markets for early signs of dispatch events, and support in offering into key markets
  • Communication - Develop training materials for and teach others about dispatch process

Field Engineering Associate

The Role

Voltus is in an exciting period of rapid growth! We are looking for a Field Engineering Associate who is passionate about problem solving and helping customers successfully participate in demand response programs.

Operations is the “connective tissue” of Voltus.  The roles within Ops are very cross functional and require team members who are collaborative and strong communicators.  As a member of the Field Operations team communication spans internal teams as well as customers and contractors.  It is critical that you have the ability to be a technical expert, learn new concepts, understand our hardware and industrial and commercial equipment and be eager to learn the energy market programs we participate in. The Field Engineer Associate role is a new role that will help accelerate the Field Ops team projects.  Approximately 50% of the role will be managing the data and processes required to install a site.  Success in the role leads to the acceleration and optimization of installation projects.  The role will also entail leading standard installations, becoming familiar with program participation rules by region and working on 1 -2 strategic projects.  The role will require someone who is intellectually curious, detail and solution oriented and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills.  A strong candidate thrives in a fast-paced, customer-centric, technical environment.

Field Engineering Manager

The Role

Voltus is hiring a driven Field Engineering Manager to be a technical and program expert, to unlock and maximize customers’ ability to participate in demand response programs and earn cash. We are looking for a technical person who can connect with the facilities and engineering team to develop relationships that lead to strong partnerships. This role has very tactical day-to-day requirements. You must have relentless attention to detail, be a master project manager, and be intellectually curious and think outside the box to come up with creative solutions to get facilities into the market. This role will primarily require leading installation projects and creating customized plans and recommendations for how sites can participate in demand response. Our goal is always to maximize the revenue earned by each customer. Your role will support that goal by understanding the technical aspects specific to each site, including:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Scope out meter installation and requirements – and execute
  • Identify the best method to extract data; if automation is a viable option, identify what it will require on the customer side and support an execution plan
  • Be a trusted advisor and liaison for recommending BMS plans, potential control integrations and SCADA integrations
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the facility’s technical team
  • Know and design all curtailment plans
  • Develop regional market subject matter expertise and own relationships with assigned territory utility metering groups  
  • Become an expert at VoltApp (the Voltus technology platform) to troubleshoot and solve customer issues quickly
  • Answer application/system questions and help customers solve technical problems

The Role

Voltus is hiring a driven, innovative leader for its Field Operations team. The role requires a technical expert who is solution-oriented and can inspire and lead a strong team. The field engineering and production teams are well-established and are made up of BGG Voltans. The teams need a strong leader to support the next phase of growth at Voltus who will need to be comfortable leading our team, which is remote by design.

Voltus Field Operations unlocks and maximizes customers’ ability to participate in demand response programs by enabling customers with our technology. Enablement includes installing our hardware, but it goes beyond the installation. There are unique scenarios that require creative solutions; the team collaborates with our customers to develop strong curtailment plans; our team is customer obsessed and builds wonderful relationships to truly understand the operations of our customers and how we can set them up to be successful in demand response programs.

The Field Operations team works cross functionally within Voltus as well as develops strong working relationships with suppliers, utilities, partners and contractors. Senior Salesforce Administrator

The Role

Voltus is looking for a driven individual to lead our System Operations team as a Senior Salesforce Administrator. In this role, you will own the success of our Salesforce instance as well as other related applications including Taskray. Ownership means not only being the leading Salesforce expert within the company and handling administrative responsibilities, but also having an excellent understanding of the business and ensuring Salesforce evolves to meet our changing needs. Success for this role will be measured by the timely completion of projects, user satisfaction, and the absence of process errors/bugs and data quality issues. The maintenance, standardization, and optimization of process and data within Salesforce is critical to achieving our mission and we need someone that is bright, gritty, and good to lead us in that effort.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Salesforce roles, profiles, sharing rules, workflows, and groups
  • Build automations in process builder and flow
  • Lead efforts to integrate new tools within the salesforce ecosystem
  • Provide advanced support to users and troubleshooting issues
  • Own the Taskray add-on including managing users, renewals, and building templates/automations
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest Salesforce improvements and communicating new functionality to the relevant internal teams
  • Own our roadmap of Salesforce improvements. This means prioritizing outstanding projects, communicating progress, and personally implementing some of the solutions
  • Support other teams in maintaining Salesforce data quality by identifying points of failure and building reports to help proactively identify them
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and optimizing day-to-day workflows that leverage Salesforce
  • Be our Monday.com administrator. This includes managing users/permissions, upgrades, and renewals
  • Create and maintain training materials and documentation for Salesforce, Taskray, and Monday.com
  • Be ready to grow the team and take on basic admin responsibilities for other company-wide 3rd party applications.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Salesforce Administrator, preferably in orgs with at least 100 users
  • Salesforce Administrator certification
  • Strong knowledge of custom objects, process builders, workflows, apex triggers, SOQL, validation rules, etc.
  • Familiar with related Salesforce applications like Hubspot, DocuSign, DataLoader, ZoomInfo, etc.
