Dispatch Operations Associate (Full-Time, Remote)

The Role

The Dispatch Operations Associate’s primary responsibility will be to successfully prepare for and execute activities associated with demand response dispatches. Demand response dispatches are business and time critical. The Dispatch Operations Associate will become an expert in executing dispatches across grid operator and utility programs in a designated region.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a state of readiness to receive dispatches from grid operators and utilities
  • Become an expert in executing dispatches across grid operator and utility programs in a designated region (for example, ERCOT, MISO, and SPP markets)
  • Maximize customer participation in DR through a dispatch management process that makes customer participation simple and successful
  • Lead seamless internal communication during dispatches, leveraging other internal team members in support of the shared goal for flawless dispatches
  • Capture lessons learned following a dispatch. Track and follow through on any customer inquiries or issues

Secondary Responsibilities

The spring and summer seasons are focused on dispatch readiness and performance. Additional demand response dispatches occur throughout the year, but your collateral duties will be predominantly conducted in the fall and winter and will include:

  • Own process documentation, internal and external. stakeholder communications, and customer readiness for the Central region
  • Create and deliver seasonal communications to customers
  • Schedule and conduct dispatch verification tests, which can include seasonal portfolio testing for market compliance
  • Ensure the collection of settlement data for customers
  • Ensure our customer contact information and curtailment plans are up to date
  • Take ownership of reporting tools and ad hoc analysis projects, supported by a fluency in Google Sheets, Python, and SQL
  • Monitor market participation and take necessary actions to ensure Voltus market compliance

Dispatch Operations Lead (Part-Time, Remote)

The Role

The Dispatch Operations Lead’s primary responsibility will be to successfully prepare for and execute all activities associated with managing demand response dispatches. Demand response dispatches are business and time critical. The Dispatch Operations Lead will become an expert in executing dispatches across multiple grid operator and utility programs.

We are a 24/7 team, and we are looking for part-time leads in a variety of time zones, weekdays, and weekends. The role is shift-based and your availability and reliability are a critical element to the success of the role; however, this role is remote, which means: no commute!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain a state of readiness to receive dispatches from grid operators and utilities
  • Maximize customer participation in DR through a dispatch management process that makes customer participation simple and successful
  • Lead seamless internal communication during dispatches, leveraging other internal team members in support of the shared goal for flawless dispatches
  • Identify opportunities to prepare and send customer readiness communications, such as dispatch forecast alerts and seasonal communications, coordinating with account managers and our Customer Success team
  • Capture lessons learned following a dispatch; track and follow through on any customer inquiries or issues

Dispatch Operations Manager (Full-Time, Remote)

The Dispatch Operations Manager’s primary responsibility will be to successfully prepare for and execute all activities associated with managing demand response dispatches. Demand response dispatches are business and time critical. The dispatch operations manager will become an expert in executing dispatches across multiple grid operator and utility programs in North America. The core objectives of the role will be to:

  • Ensure 24/7 readiness to receive dispatches from grid operators and utilities, including secondary plans in place to handle dispatches of programs during off hours
  • Execute all operational procedures following processes and checklists diligently
  • Identify areas to improve process to maximize a lean dispatch ops team
  • Implement processes and/or tools to drive customer readiness and ultimately customer performance
  • Maximize customer participation in DR through a dispatch management process that makes customer participation simple and successful
  • Leverage and train internal resources to support customer inbound/outbound phone calls as appropriate
  • Maintain seamless internal communication when dispatches occur
  • Capture lessons learned following a dispatch; track and follow through on any customer inquiries or issues
  • Manage process documentation and communications with internal and external stakeholders
  • Execute and improve ad hoc communications to customers related to dispatches
  • Work closely with the Customer Success team to ensure customer readiness and ensure customers are well informed and prepared

We are a 24/7 team, and we are looking for managers in a variety of time zones. The role is shift-based and your availability and reliability are a critical element to the success of the role; however, this role is remote, which means: no commute!

When not managing a demand response dispatch, you will focus on working with the Customer Success team to ensure customer readiness; support data operations; work closely with the Market Ops team to develop and implement process improvement and establish a strong foundation for ensuring we maximize our market participation.

The spring and summer seasons are focused on dispatch readiness and performance. There will be additional demand response dispatch events throughout the year, but there are collateral duties that include additional responsibilities:

  • Incoming Calls (main line)
  • Training / Onboarding in VoltApp
  • Support Center (customer issues, bugs reported, login issues)
  • Schedule/conduct Dispatch Verifications
  • Manage the collection of settlement data on all customers
  • Manage data to ensure quality customer data
  • Manage day-of customer schedule changes in OR markets
  • Train internal team for dispatch support

Field Engineering Intern

Field Engineering Manager

The Role

Voltus is hiring a driven Field Engineering Manager to be a technical and program expert, to unlock and maximize customers’ ability to participate in demand response programs and earn cash. We are looking for a technical person who can connect with the facilities and engineering team to develop relationships that lead to strong partnerships. This role has very tactical day-to-day requirements. You must have relentless attention to detail, be a master project manager, and be intellectually curious and think outside the box to come up with creative solutions to get facilities into the market. You are bright, gritty, and good, and you want to work with others like you. This role will primarily require leading installation projects and creating customized plans and recommendations for how sites can participate in demand response. Our goal is always to maximize the revenue earned by each customer. Your role will support that goal by understanding the technical aspects specific to each site, including:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Scope out meter installation and requirements – and execute
  • Identify the best method to extract data; if automation is a viable option, identify what it will require on the customer side and support an execution plan
  • Be a trusted advisor and liaison for recommending BMS plans, potential control integrations and SCADA integrations
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the facility’s technical team
  • Know and design all curtailment plans
  • Develop regional market subject matter expertise and own relationships with assigned territory utility metering groups  
  • Become an expert at VoltApp (the Voltus technology platform) to troubleshoot and solve customer issues quickly
  • Answer application/system questions and help customers solve technical problems
  • Be highly flexible in day-to-day activities – easily moving from customer interactions, to internal  engagement, to project management, to enablement and interaction with key stakeholders
  • Work in Salesforce and TaskRay to track project statuses and implementation
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation on all active projects and repairs

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree from an accredited Engineering program
  • Project Management Professional, PMP – preferred
  • Ability to read, modify and draw technical electrical drawings to include single line diagrams

  • Identify, develop and implement tools and processes to support flawless execution of our day-to-day responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Act as a Salesforce administrator, working alongside the current admin to maintain and optimize Salesforce, including the streamlining of processes and ongoing training
  • Hands-on configuration of new and existing Salesforce features, including user management, roles/profiles, Permission Sets, custom objects, new page layouts, custom fields, formula fields, validations rules, etc.
  • Provide standardized reporting and ad-hoc reporting support and training
  • Manage Taskray (a task management tool in Salesforce) requests, including mass updating tasks, building ad-hoc reports, and troubleshooting errors
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to gather & analyze requirements and propose solutions that leverage Salesforce functionalities
  • Keep well-written records describing how each function works, any special configurations, and how to troubleshoot basic issues
  • Act as an administrator for Voltus’s project management tool

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Salesforce Lightning environment, ideally a power user
  • 0-2 years Salesforce administrator, Taskray administrator or related experience
  • Salesforce Administrator Certification is a plus
